Wheatbelt Native Gardens (WNG) propagates and grows a broad range of native plant species for Western Australian Wheatbelt domestic gardens, schools & small projects.

In a region of WA where as much as 80% of native vegetation has been cleared, WNG founder, Richard McDowell, firmly believes in the role that the home garden can play on the conservation front.

By offering a well-chosen selection of genuine Wheatbelt Native Plant Species for Wheatbelt gardens, WNG can help you to improve biodiversity outcomes on your very own patch.

And of course, with improved biodiversity comes other benefits such as reduced water usage and costs associated with chemicals or amendments, enhanced urban cooling, improved habitat creation, erosion control benefits and a boost for sense of place and localised identity.
Improved biodiversity with local native species will also likely improve cross-pollination opportunities for your fruit trees and vegies.

Little wonder really that we’ve adopted the tagline – ‘Biodiversity Lives Here’.
It’s what we are all about at WNG.

Keep an eye on our stocklist for regular updates on the species we have available.

WNG are Eremophila specialists, but we also grow species from Genre such as Calothamnus, Thryptomene, Melaleuca, Hakea, Acacia and Eucalyptus as well as native grasses and all sorts of secret little things!
Our Quandong propagation work meanwhile, was featured on the ABC’s Gardening Australia TV program in 2022.

Please note that WNG does not operate a retail nursery or store.
We sell our quality native plants at local markets, ag’ shows, community events and such like, but you can arrange to come and purchase from us in Kellerberrin by private appointment.

Come and see us at the following events in the months ahead;
